Introducing New Payson Timpani & Concert Bass Drum Mallets
(Press Release | Posted 2008-04-06)
Ludwig Payson Mallets, the popular line of professional quality timpani and concert bass mallets have been redesigned. The Payson line of mallets was originally designed by Al Payson for his own personal use when he performed with The Chicago Symphony.
The new Payson Mallets are easily identified by their new beautiful walnut finish and white pile heads. Payson mallets are perfectly balanced for optimum performance and are ideal for all professional performances. Yet, Ludwig has priced Payson mallets just right for school purchases.
In timpani mallets, most percussionists need to have a selection of mallets; soft felt for rolls and legatos, medium felt for general use, and hard felt for staccato quick rhythmic performances. Ludwig Payson mallets offer a full range of mallet head hardness levels including the L304 Ultra Soft, L305 Soft, L306 Medium, and L307 Hard with the new walnut finish handles, along with the Ludwig L2311 aluminum handle model. Payson bass drum models are similarly aligned with L308 Sostenuto/Soft, L309 Roller/Soft, and L310 General Purpose mallets.
