Calhoun, Bissonette Go Clinic Crazy
(Press Release | Posted 2008-06-09)
May was clinic month at Mapex as Gregg Bissonette and Will Calhoun cris-crossed the country and appeared at several Mapex retailers. Willis Music in Florence, KY hosted a Gregg Bissonette Clinic on May 22. Over 80 enthusiastic people showed up and were treated to a trademark Gregg Bisonnette Clinic Experience.
“Gregg is a great musician and a fantastic story teller,” said Paul Finke VP of Sales for Willis Music. “This was by far the best overall clinic that I can remember in my 23 years at Willis. Gregg answered so many of the kid’s questions. What a great vibe! Gregg is so easy to work with.”
Willis also hosted a NAMM World’s Fastest Drummer competition prior to the clinic and Gregg handed out prizes to the winners.
“The kids were mesmerized by Gregg’s talent and the stories he’s told front his eventful career,” added Finke. “Mapex does a great job supporting retailers like Willis with clinics like this.”
On the 15th, West Music in Corallville, IA hosted a clinic with Will Calhoun as part of the store’s “May is Mapex Month” promotion. The clinic attracted over 100 people, many driving from up to 75 miles away.
“With gas at $4 a gallon, that’s saying something,” commented Jim Eason, Mapex Regional Sales Manager.
Will, as usual, gave an inspiring performance on a Mapex Saturn Series Fusionease kit. He covered multiple styles and a range of cultural techniques and, in doing so, kept the crowd riveted.
Following the performance spent a great deal of time answering questions from many young drummers in the crowd.
Chris Wood, Percussion Sales Manager for West Music, commented, “Mapex works tirelessly with our staff, making sure we present a first rate clinic. I’d have Mapex and Will Calhoun back anytime.
West Music has been in business for 63 years and has 145 employees and 80 teachers that train over 3000 students. West Music is a Mapex Destination Dealer and a Mapex Learning Advantage Dealer.
