Canadian guitar maker Godin will introduce its new A4 & A5 Ultra SA semi-acoustic basses at Winter NAMM. First introduced in 2007, the new models feature the addition of a Low Profile Lace Sensor pickup with side mounted volume and tone controls. Other features include Custom Godin electronics with individual saddle transducers in the bridge, a 1/4" output and a 13-pin output jack to access 13-pin devices and computers via Midi.
Godin's custom preamp section is voiced specifically for the A4 & A5 Ultra SA and features sliders for treble, mid, bass, acoustic and synth volume as well as program up/down buttons to choose between synth patches. The new models will be available in either fretted or fretless with 4 or 5 strings. A rosewood fingerboard is standard on the fretted model and an ebony fingerboard on the fretless. As on all Godin A-series models, a solid spruce top and a silver leaf cutawaw maple body with a two-chambered designed to help eliminate feedback free at high volume. MSRP is expected to be around $1300.
