Martins Stab at Entry Level Ukuleles(MattG | Posted 2010-01-19)  At this years NAMM show, Martin introduced the OXK ukulele. They are attempting to get a piece of the entry level ukulele market that is dominated by Ovation’s sub-line Applause. The body is made of high pressure laminate and styled to look like Hawaiian Koa, so very appropriate for a ukulele. It features Sitka spruce top bracing, grover tuners and a bone nut and saddle. With a retail price of $399, the uke will probably have a street price of $350 which will compete with other builders, but Applause also features an acoustic/electric option in the same price range. Electronics are not an option in the Martin.
