Hartke turned head when it premiered its aluminum-coned bass speaker system some time ago and the company has continued to refine and expand its offerings. The latest addition to the HyDrive line, whichwas introduced in 2007, is the HX112 , a cabinet that can handle 300 watts yet weighs under 30 pounds.
HyDrive speakers fuse traditional paper and aluminum cones, giving players the warmth of paper and the punchy attack of aluminum. The HX112 features a single 12-inch HyDrive hybrid cone driver and a high frequency compression driver in a specially tuned, ported bass cabinet. The cabinet switchable between 4 and 8 ohm impedances. According to Hartke, refinements in cabinet design give the HyDrive 112 a tight, punchy sound with more bottom than a tradition 112 cab. Each cabinet also features inset side handles, removable casters and a steel grill for safe and easy transport.
