PRS+NF3+MIPA = a winning combination

Paul Reed Smith has a lot to be proud about these days. They obviously are producing attractive, high-end guitars that make guitarists drool but his time they have further confirmation that they are doing many things right. PRS Guitars is proud to announce that the new NF3 model has received the Musikmesse International Press Award (mipa) in the ,b>“Best Electric Guitar” category for 2010/2011. Press from all over the world voted for this year’s most revered musical gear and the winners were announced at the Musikmesse/Prolight & Sound trade show in Frankfurt, Germany on April 7th, 2011.

The Musikmesse International Press Award (mipa) is known as the “Grammy" of the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio industry. More than 300 international representatives of manufacturers and distributors of musical instruments and audio equipment attended the 12th mipa awards show, including guests from the USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, Poland, Great Britain, Italy, France, Greece, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. The Paul Reed Smith Band also headlined this year’s event.

The NF3 features: 22 frets, 25-1/4” scale, maple neck and fretboard with rosewood option, Korina body, ring dot inlays, PRS low mass locking tuners, nickel hardware finish with gold option, 3 proprietary PRS Narrowfield pickups, volume and tone controls.

With the best traits of a humbucker, P90, singlecoil, and mini-humbucker, the Narrowfield pickups give this guitar a distinctively familiar yet completely new sound and feature the same wire as PRS’s coveted 57/08 pickups – the width of the Narrowfield, however, is squeezed from pole to pole and goes deeper. Steel tremolo bridge system components also contribute to its clear and expansive tone, and additional innovative updates include a retro “V12” finish and a “Pattern Regular” neck shape.

NF3 Finishes include: Antique White, Black, Charcoal, Frost Blue Metallic, McCarty Tobacco Sunburst, Natural, Powder Blue, Seafoam Green, Smoked Amber, Tri-Color Sunburst, Vintage Burst, Vintage Cherry, White Wash.
