Martin JC 16-GTE Gloss Top Jumbo Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI bought my Martin from the Sam Ash Music chain in Orange County, CA. The tag price was $1250 w/case. List price was about $1900. I managed to talk the salesman down to $1175.
It is esthetically beautiful. The wood grain on the back and sides is amazing. The Martin tuners hold a tune for weeks at a time. The rosette consists of beautiful multi-colored wood inlays and the back spine has similar inlays.
The sound is bright, loud and crisp. It has a Fishman pickup which I use when I want to experiment with different sounds. It has a good "feel" to it. It's as if you know you're holding a quality instrument.
No dislikes. The price is steep for recreational players. But, I expect that for a quality instrument.
Solid spruce top. Mahogony back and sides. Ebony fingerboard. Fishman pickup. Martin tuners. Superb workmanship.
I am proud to own this instrument. It looks great, has terrific tone and projection, and the workmanship is outstanding. And, it came with a case! Russ rated this unit on 2002-03-29.
