5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI purchased my JC-16GTE from Mullin Music in Swansea, Massachusetts. The guitar had been slightly used, probably not more than 2 or 3 months, and it was in fantastic condition. The store was asking about $900 for it during a spring sale, and I managed to talk them down to $850. Even though I purchased the guitar without receiving the Martin warranty, I still think it was a tremendous deal.
This Martin embodies everything a guitar should: great action, wider fingerboard, deep bass, good trebles, and a Fishman Prefix Pro blender. I love the soundhole rosette, which has a multicolored arrow pattern, which is also featured on the back of the guitar over the seam in the solid mahogany. The combination of a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides produces a loud and clear tone, suited perfectly for light to heavy strumming, and even some moderate finger picking. Everyone who has played my Martin remarks about the ease of playability and clarity of tone. Also, it came in a great form-fitting case.
I can't think of anything I don't like about this guitar.
The JC-16GTE feels incredibly solid and fits really well in my lap. It isn't particularly light, and you can tell that it is made of all solid wood, no laminates.
Most likely the best mahogany-bodied guitar I have ever played, and I'm not just saying that because I own it. The combination of the Sitka Spruce top and the Mahogany body makes for a booming and incredibly clear tone that is unmatched by all the jumbos I have ever played.
