Martinez MSC-7 (NST) Solid Top Elec/Acoustic Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI purchased this fine Electric Acoustic Guitar from Davis Wheeler Music in Phillip ACT. It is the top of the Martinez line-up and represented extremely good value for the price of $750. (Other guitars I looked at in similar styles were around twice the price - and no better sounding)
It is very well constructed, with selected fine acoustic timbers and designed in Australia. I like the neatness of the inlays in the fretboard and the body/top. Very neat craftsmanship. It has a very (easy) playable neck and fretboard and I love the rich tonal quality - I could not find anything better for the price. It looks good and sounds good, and not over priced.
There's not much to tell in this department, I can't really find any fault/s with this guitar. It is light - well balanced and fun to play. Nah! - sorry, I can't speak a bad word about it.
It has a solid (not laminated) Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard. Deluxe Pearl binding on body and headstock, Bound fingerboard w/Pearl position marker inlay, Diecast gold machine heads with Grover-style buttons, Belcat pickup system with 5-band EQ and mid freq control. And the sound is exceptional - great tonal quality, both plugged and unplugged. Looks and sounds fantastic. Also has a matt/satin clear finish which I like for glare reduction. The timber grain is very natural and beautiful - well selected.
If you are after a fine electric acoustic guitar and don't want to break the bank then you should take a look at the Martinez line up - I am glad I did, no regrets. The best value for money you will find. Terry McGhee rated this unit on 2004-06-26.
