I started playing when I was seven years old and had my first band by the age of ten. I have been in several different bands in my lifetime. Sometimes just playing as a duo!
I bought the Maton guitar in Knoxville,Tennessee after playing it for about sixty seconds. It felt like butter in my hands and the tones were like nothing I had ever heard before. I first saw a Maton guitar after going to see Tommy Emmanuel in concert and I was completely blown away by the sounds that were coming out of this small body guitar. He was making sounds with this guitar that I didn't even know were possible. Of course it's Tommy Emmanuel. The best guitar player I've heard in my life by far!At the time I bought the guitar the price was around $2,600.00 plus tax! And worth every penny of it. As a matter of fact I bought two of them at the same time. And later bought a total of four more Maton guitars, just different models.
As I said before it felt like butter in my hands and the tones of this guitar were incredible. The action on this guitar was great straight from the factory. The pickup system in it is called an AP MIC. Made by Maton. It has six seperate pickups under the saddle and a built in Mic just inside the soundhole at the 1st string. You can blend both the pickups and the Mic together or seperate them. The best sounding pickup I've heard so far. The guitar is small and lightweight and very comfortable to hold standing or sitting. Personally I think it's the best guitar I've ever played and I've played a lot of different guitars!
I can't think of anything that I don't like about the guitar. As I said before I think it's the best guitar I've ever played!!
These guitars are made in Australia out of Australian timbers. The construction is also some of the best I've seen. You can tell they take great pride in making these guitars from start to finish. They have been making these guitars since 1946 and continually strive to make them the best guitars possible.
I think Maton has made the best guitar possible. If you've never played one you owe it to yourself to pick one up and give it a try. It will change your life!! All your other guitars you own will be second best to you after playing the Maton!! Maton Jim rated this unit on 2005-10-28.
