Elixer Nanoweb Bass Strings Reviews 3 / 5 based on 1 reviewsThese strings are available in 4 or 5 string sets as well as single string including a High C string for 6 string basses, I used the 5 string version on the set I used.
I received a set of these strings as a free try survey promotion direct form the manufacturer a few years ago.
When you first put this strings on, wow they are great. They are very smooth and easy to play, and sound great. This only last so long however...
The nanoweb coating tends to wear off. The whole point of the coating is supposed help maintain tone and string smoothness, this only last so long, you will actually see the coating wear off and it gets all over the strings were you play often.
On a production note, I dislike not being able to buy a six string set of the strings and needed to buy the sixth string separately. I know quite a few companies work like this for efficiency reasons since 4 and 5 strings are by far more popular.
Well constructed strings, the nanaweb coating is good when its new but does not last long to make it worth it.
There are a bit expensive, more of a luxury if you have the extra money to spend. Depending on how hard you play you may find yourself replacing these strings often as the coating wears off. ctargia rated this unit on 2010-06-17.
