GHS M6000 Bassics Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsThese are the M6000 Bassics Medium gauge strings put out by GHS. Everyone knows GHS for Boomers and not much else. I'm here to say: check these out!
They are nickel wound strings gauges 44-106 (yes I know those are weird, yet accurate gauges) roundwound strings.
I was out late one night at Walmart and noticed they have a small selection of mostly budget instruments. I noted they also had strings and saw these for only $5! I thought they are worth a shot because even the cheapest of cheap bass strings usually run $10+ a set.
I picked up the remaining 4 sets they had. My regular string choice is D'addario. One set of them in the store is $20. So I felt I was getting a deal of a lifetime.
Price! Can't beat $5
OK, OK, how do they sound? They are good. Not terrible, not amazing just good. I got about 2 months out of them before they started to lose their 'zing'
After that I boiled them and got yet another 2 months out of my first set.
The tension is good, tuning is good, nothing bad about these.
None whatsoever. I was very pleased with these strings.
If I were to nit-pick, these are made in China. I prefer to buy US made strings if I can.
Nickel wound, round wound strings. The finish was very smooth and easy on my fingers. Nothing crazy happened, no obscene fretwear.
If you see these at you local Walmart for $5, buy 'em out! Very good bargain strings. Billy rated this unit on 2011-02-22.
