David Eden WT-500 Highwayman Reviews
5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsPurchased this bass head from the local Guitar Center 10 years ago. I bought the head on a whim and I've never looked back. I paid about 600 bucks back then for this used head, and feel that I've gotten my money back out of it many times over.
I like the power and the headroom that this amp provides. There isn't anything quite like an Eden. Once you've heard it you'll know what I'm talking about. Eden even sounds nice even if you are running the head through an inveriour speaker cab.... I.E. Ampeg. The Tech support from Eden is outstanding and there are many helpfull people on their chat forum that can help with any issues. The tube pre amp gives the all around tone a nice warm sound, but you'd have to hear it to believe it.
Uh, Hmmmm, well, there is.... well never mind... I liked that too.... so, there's this... Oh that was on my Ampeg... hmmm. Give me a minute, I'll think of something. Ah, I got it. I had to turn the cooling fan around to blow the hot air out the back instead of sucking in cool air. That was a suggestion from the www.eden.com web site forum.
Eden is over built in my opinion. It is in a very sturdy case that you can see pics of on their web site.... mine has been gigging for about 10 years now, and it works just as good as it did the day I bought it, and has never been in for service. Just keeps on working. So much so, that I take it for granted. The functions of the amp are very simple and easy to use. The wt-500 uses the same power amp as the wt-800 but uses less of the total wattage possible; therefor, the power amps are not worked all that hard, and can take abuse.
Bottom line, this amp rocks the house everytime, and I'm able to fill many venues with thick clear bass sound without any PA assistance. The D.I. out on the back of the head gives the option to hook to the board, but there really isn't any need.. even at 500 watts (bridged at 8 ohms or 250 per chnl @ 4 ohms) this head makes use of all it's energy very efficiantly and just keeps thumpin' away night after night. There is no wonder why Eden is the choice of so many professionals. Night after night I make other bass players green with envy when they hear about my Eden getting it done with no hastle.
