Gallien-Krueger MB-150S Combo Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsThis is the Micro Bass combo put out by Gallien Kruger. Mine was the 150 watt model with a 1 12' speaker and an additional 2 speaker output. If I recall correctly the amp only sends 100 watts to the combo's speaker and to get the full power, you must plug in an extension speaker.
I ran into a really great deal on the used market. I found it on Craigslist for $200.
I was sold on it due to its small size and power.
It packs a nice punch for a combo. It's a solid American made combo.
I remember I did a short tour with it and I fit the amp in my luggage! It could just barely hack it with the stage volume of a drummer, 2 vocalists and 2 guitarists without help from monitors.
When I had the space I'd bring out an additional 1x12 or 1x15 cab and this amp would fill a stage out no problem.
After 2 years of hard use it stopped working. I would get power, but not a consistent signal. I was really sad to see this amp go. There are a few amps like it out now, but 10-15 years ago it was ahead of its time.
It was solid for the most part. It was in a metal box and had a sturdy handle. A few times I stubbed my toe on it and man, you'll lose the fight with this amp every time!
Gallien Krueger hit a home run with this amp. The 4 band EQ, XLR out and plenty of power to boot. I wish I still had mine! Billy rated this unit on 2010-11-09.
