I favor rock but have played just about every style, even -- shame -- disco. Favorite players include Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, Tony Levin, Chris Squire, Joe Osborn, Bob Glaub and Sting.
Purchased new from Musiciansfriend in April 2009. I'd been playing straight to the board at church but a new more rockin' service at called for an amp. I didn't think my Studio 110 (75w) would be big enough, so I went with the Shuttle after having been pleased with other GB amps. MSRP: $1499; I paid $1,199.
The Shuttle 6.0 112T combo puts out a ton of sound in a lightweight package with a small footprint. This combo sports a NEO 12' with a bullet tweeter in specially designed cabinet with rear porting that gets maximum low end from a small box (18 x8 18 x 14). A bottom-mounted kickback stand allows you to tilt the unit to aim the sound toward your ears onstage. The Shuttle sounds great right out of the box. Set flat, the amp will deliver a tight, modern sound that should appeal to most bass players. With minimal EQ tweaking, you can produce a ton of bottom while still retaining punch and clarity. The unit has tuner out, effects loop, XLR out, plus three-band EQ with parametric mid and three pushbutton tone shaping switches, headphone out and line in for silent practice. The Amp head can be taken from its slide-in receiver and carried home alone in an optional gigbag. At 3.75 pounds, why not?
I can find no drawbacks to any Genz-Benz product -- been using their amps in various setups for almost nine years without a single problem.
All GB products are built to be used and with the gigging player in mind. Construction is solid yet lightweight -- one-hand carrying lets you put the combo in and out of your car with no problem. I've never had a GB amp fail under any circumstances.
The Genz-Benz Shuttle 12T combo is perfect for players who need a small, portable, lightweight amp that still delivers big tone. The 6.0 head can handle an extension cabinet for those who need more power (600W into 4 ohms) and bottom, but for softer gigs and even a moderately loud rock band, the Shuttle 112T alone combos fits the bill. The 6.0 Combo is also available in a 210T setup, and the Shuttle 3.0 (175W/300W) Combo is offered in 8T and 10T packages for those who need less power and volume.
