Rogue CG-50B Reviews 2 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI bought this amp from Musicians Friend for $129. I needed a practise amp at home and I wanted one I could hear. Of course the fact that it was only $129 did have something to do with it.
It is loud enough to annoy my wife, which is the definitive test of whether or not it has sufficient volume. The headphone jack is also a plus when I don't want to bother anyone.
It takes quite a bit fiddling around with the equalizer and tone to get a decent sound out of this amp, it tends to have hollow tone and sound to it. It is heavy enough that toting it around can be a chore and I have used a 30W Crate that was as loud as this amp but quite a bit lighter.
This is a 50W bass with switchable equalizer between low-mid-high tone controls and it has a four-band graphic equalizer. It also features a 12" speaker, high and low inputs, an effects loop, and line out and headphone jacks.
I know hind sight is 20/20, but a Peavy Microbass would have met my needs just fine, of course it would not have been quite as loud, and would have cost less. If you need something for around the house, don't intend on moving it around and get one real cheap go for it. Don Walls rated this unit on 2001-12-07.
