Lakland Skyline 5501 Fretted Bass Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI was looking for a bass with the old vintage type of sound without paying a "vintage" price. I already had one of those boutique basses that we all bought from the early '90's. I Purchased the bass @ Club Bass in Toronto for $1000.00 Canadian.
I Love the finish. It's a Maple quilt sunburst that you will only see on basses costing 3 - 5 times as much. The construction is second to none! I am very much stimulated by sight so the look of the bass appeals to me very much. The maple neck is an absolute dream. Bass player will know what I am alking about when I say you could play this bass all night and not be fatigued. And last and probably most important is THE SOUND! The low B has piano like clarity. The 5501 cuts like a blow torch through ice. Set the bass to flat and then give the treble and midrange controls the slightest turn clockwise and BAM! you will not get lost in the mix.
Absolutely nothing
A friend of mine just held the bass in his hand and he said "this feels like a bass that costs 3 - 4 thousand dollars". This bass was put together. This is as solid as they come.
If you are looking for a first rate bass with sound that is unparalleled without paying first rate price. This is the one for you. I loved it so much I bought the 4 string twin to it. And my comments are exactly the same Groovemaster J rated this unit on 2004-03-09.
