Warwick Corvette Basic Passive 5 String Reviews 4 / 5 based on 1 reviewsWarwick who is known for making great handcrafted instruments in Germany released a cheaper Rockbass line. This is the Corvette Basic Passive 5-string bass in Almond Sunburst.
I picked this up after I purchased my first Warwick Rockbass last year. Almond sunburst is a little pricier than the stock natural finish. Total cost was $649.
A very slim neck for a 5 string, yet the string spacing did not feel any too cramped. Another thing I love is it is PASSIVE. Not many 5 strings are. A word from the wise, very rarely is a budget active bass going to have good sounding/roadworthy electronics.
I am not a fan of blend knobs. The 4 controls are master volume, blend, tone and tone. If it were up to me I'd have made the blend an additional volume so each pickup had an independent volume.
Fantastic craftsmanship. The body is alder, the neck is maple and the fretboard is rosewood. The electronics and hardware are the same German made products that go on the expensive Warwicks.
If you're on the market for a passive 5 string that won't break the bank, the Warwick Corvette sounds as good as it looks. Billy rated this unit on 2011-09-27.
