Warwick Thumb 5 Neck-Through Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI purchased this instrument at Guitar Center in San Francisco. I knew the person who I bought it from so I got a good deal on it. I got the intrument, a nice case and a free strap for $2300 out the door. I got it because I needed a high quality 5-string for the new band I am in. I had my eye set on this instrument for I while so it was my first choice.
You get what you pay for with this instrument. the playibility is amazing. the low B string tight and deep while the upper register is clear and sparkling. The 3 band active electronic make for endless possibilities.
This bass is heavy. Really heavy. It takes a little getting used to. It made me consider getting something lighter, but this bass is just too good.
the construction is perfect. This bass, being a neck-through made from very exotic woods, is quite a looker. The hardware is all of very good quality. the frets are great with the exeption of one fret being about a millimeter or two from one edge. Which is a very minor detail that is vitrally is unnoticeable and doesn't affect the playablity.
The Warwick has a tone that growls and a weight that will make you groan. So if you like deep punchy tone that will cut through any mix and arn't a 90-pound weakling this bass is for you. John Paul Norris rated this unit on 2004-05-20.
