Pearl ELX825 Export Select Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI bought this set through a local music store for about 835 dollars.
There is a lot to like about this set. The laquer is very nice and professional looking. The shells are extremely resonant as well. What i really like about this set compared to my cheaper quality Pulse set is how nice the snare is. It gives a really nice pop and has a nice quick decay. I also love the hardware because it is so durable. The P-100 bass pedal is very nice as well.
The only small detail I didn't like about this set is the tom mounting system. Until you get it set exactly perfect the toms fall off and take chunks out of the bass drum laquer. After messing with it I got it to work but it is very sensitive. The snare head is very crappy and wears out within the first couple weeks. Since i got ebony pinstripes right away, i never got a chance to try out the pearl heads.
Very well built minus the tom mounting system. What is good about the mounting system is that the toms do not actually touch the hardware which keeps them in good shape. Just make sure they're on correctly. - With the right heads and cymbals, this set sounds studio quality. Very highly recommended.
Immaculate set. Very professional looking. I wouldn't buy anything but a Pearl. Perfect set for your budget. Any questions, feel free to email me. Josh rated this unit on 2003-12-26.
