I've been playing drums for 27 years, and this is the first electronic kit I've owned. I've only had it a couple of days, but it ROCKS!! I never thought an electronic kit could sound and feel so natural. I know this is a beginner kit, so I can't imagine what the upgrades are like. From out of the box to jammin took less than 15 minutes. The amount of preset kits (99) is almost too much, but there's actually only 3 or 4 I'll probabally use on a regular basis.
This is an entry level kit at a very good price, but it does have a few drawbacks. When mixing in music to play over, for whatever reason the cymbal volume almost drops out. The rubber pads feel great, but don't play quite like acoustic heads. The pads are also very forgiving, which might make a novice player feel they can play a little better than they actually can--- which may lead to a little disappointment on an acoustic kit.
Durability appears to be pretty good. Most parts are plastic, and the tom arms do move some with vigorus play. It would be nice if they had some sort of position lock to minimize this. I have a feeling that a couple years into it's use I'll need to replace some of the hardware clamps.
All in all it's a great piece of equipment. Probabally not quite pro gear-- but I don't think it's meant to be. The sound is awesome, if you cloe your eyes you'd think you were recording in the best sounding studio ever made. I wouldn't recommend this to a beginner who has not developed their skills with an acoustic set. But, for a fun addition to your collection it's well worth it. beware, its very addictive! I've been playing drums for 14 years and went through many electronic kits. This is the first one that feels so natural to me.
I like everything about it
