Brian Moore 88.13 Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI bought this guitar for $750 at www.musiciansfriend.com. I paid $500 for the Roland GR-33. $750 and $500 does seem like a lot, but it is really a good deal. I played this many times in the store and fell in love with it. I knew that I could do almost anything with this and the synth.
What do I like about this unit? I like a lot. I like the fact that this guitar has a piezo. The piezo is a lot better than the piezo on other guitars I have played. This imitates an acoustic closer than the acoustic simultation pedals I have played- the Boss AC2 and the Zoom 505. In fact, the only thing I have played that was as close to an acoustic was an actual acoustic. I also love that this guitar has a synth capability. This lets me plug in and obtain all different kind of sounds, like "voices" in a keyboard, if you will. I can use this to get almost any sound available. The fretboard is so smooth, it's too good to be true. I love this thing.
What don't I like? Let's see. I don't like the price. Heh. That's pretty much the only thing. I would expect the guitar to be a lot more though. It is better than a lot of more expensive guitars. I just happen to think the synth is a bit overpriced. $500 on top of that $750? But don't get me wrong, it's awesome.
This is a solid guitar. The construction is great. I don't see any part of this ever breaking or falling apart. The only thing is that the synth input is on the side of the guitar. This requires one to be careful of how to place the guitar because it's on the bottom. Bad location for the synth, but I love everything else.
The bottom line- this guitar can't be beat. I have been researching guitars for quite some time now, and I have faith in my decision. I found out about this at a Brian Moore workshop/seminar-thingy and I fell in love with it. I honestly think this thing is better than a lot of the bigger name guitars out there. On top of that, the guitar is pretty sharp looking too. I would definately get another if this one was unusable or stolen. Matt rated this unit on 2001-12-02.
