Burns Brian May Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviews$650 from ebay seller w/o case
Very attractive guitar. Great high class feel to it. Excellent trem' system allows for both pitch dercrease and increase. Tri-sonic pick-ups are awesome with a sound somewhere between a Strat and a Les Paul and with high output to boot. You really have to hear it for yourself. This is a rockin' tone machine! Pickup switching for on/off and phase adds versitility.
Hmmm. Well the binding has a very minor flaw near the neck/body joint. Also, the trem' system is not as cool looking as the one on the real Red Special (or the Guild BHM Signature or RS Classic replicas). Some string buzz on the low E and A strings. Haven't tried to adjust it so far b/c I like the low action.
Solid body with hollow chamber. 3 tri-sonic pick-ups. Set neck. 24 fret. See Burnsusa.com for more details and streaming audio of Brian May playing the guitar.
This is the newest guitar in my collection that includes a Les Paul Jr. Special Plus, Fender Standard Strat, Rickenbacker 350v63, Epiphone Casino, Vaccaro Generator X, and Agile RK500. I seem to keep picking this one up more than the others (at least for now) it's that fun.
Note - It may not sound as good without a high quality amp with some power! I'm using a 100W Peavey head and a 2x12 Johnson Amplification Cab with Celestion Vintage 30s. Erickenbacker rated this unit on 2002-12-19.
