Fender Deluxe Fat Strat Mexican Reviews 4 / 5 based on 2 reviewsBought this guitar from Musicians friend for 450 dollars (90 dollar discount because of the color being phased out.)
I love the fast neck, alder body (though heavy), and the variety of tonal possibilities. The bridge humbucker is a monster, and the two single coiles are hot yet smooth. Floyd Rose locking tremolo does stay in tune superbly.
Looks classy yet hard.
The Floyd Rose was a hassle, i put in five tremolo springs (it came with 3) and don't float it at all. Once that was taken care of, i like the non-floating Floyd Rose more than a standard tremolo.
As with all mexi strats, re solder the ground wire right out of the box. Other than that, this guitar is a fine peice of work. (Though i have been told with Mexican strats, it is sometime luck of the draw.)
Bottom line: For your money (especially on the great sale i got it on) this is THE premire mid-range priced guitar. There isn't a 400 to 600 dollar guitar that can touch it. jrsharp rated this unit on 2003-01-15. I bought this guitar from Musicians friend for 450 dollars, which was 90 dollars off from 540, because the arctic white was being phased out, and is no longer available.
I love the fast neck, which is a very slim c shape. The alder body (though heavy), and the variety of tonal possibilities. The bridge humbucker is a monster, and the two single coils are hot yet smooth. Bridge plays great distortion leads, and all pickups have that fender crispness to it. Floyd Rose locking tremolo does stay in tune superbly.
Looks classy yet hard. The large headstock is retro and adds a distinct flair.

If you step on your chord often and forget to wrap it in your strap, you will need to tighten the jack plate from time to time.
