Gretsch SIlver Pro Jet G5235 Reviews 5

I recently bought this guitar at Music123 for $400. I had always wanted a silver single cutaway jet since seeing a '57 model in 1987.

The overall balance is perfect. The neck feels great, the thumbnail inlays look cool, the "G" cut into the tailpiece, the chrome knobs, the strap buttons, and body binding are all top notch. The tone possibilities are awesome, both clean and cranked through my Marshall. The price knocked me out! The pickguard even stands out. It is a visual and sonic beauty!

I would like to have a fullsized double coil in the bridge and keep the stock mini humbucker in the neck. The tuning keys are good enough, but I don't know how long they will last until they start to slip. The paint was uneven in the pickup cavities, but you have to look for it to see it.

The set neck is just the right radius for a lot of styles. The heel and neck joint feel really smooth and the upper frets are easily accessible. The weight is good and heavy which is actually comfortable. The pickups have a lot of tone from high to muddy (if you want to go to these extremes)

I waited for half of my life to finally get a silver jet, and this was worth it! I was blown away by the visual qualities and love the sound of it. I have found it to be very adaptable to different styles of music both with it's sound and the overall feel. I love it and want a gold one to keep it company when I'm at work!
