Jay Turser Spirite' Reviews 3 / 5 based on 1 reviewsE-bay!! I paid $200, but the website says $479. Don't pay that much.
Funny styling, and I've set it up with very low action and no fret buzz. I like the reverse headstock.
The tremelo bridge puts the guitar very much out of tune, especially when bending strings. The pickups are too bright and quacky. The finish is wavy. The body is made of plywood. The wiring looks messy.
It seems to be built quite solidly. It has a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. If only the body weren't so cheap. After I replaced the pickups with seymour duncans, it gave a cool surf vibe. But before that it just sounded weird. I set the tremelo flat because it is useless. It puts strings out of tune. The standard strings are crap, I replaced them with Ernie Ball heavy guage The action is very low though, just one millimeter at high E on 17th fret, on low E 2mm
You could play it until you got good, then buy a better guitar. There are better choices for a starter, I recommend a Fender Mustang or Epiphone SG hachiroku rated this unit on 2003-05-02.
