Samick Silvertone SG 21 Reviews 4 / 5 based on 1 reviewsThis guitar is basically a knock off of a Gibson SG. I bought my Silvertone SG 21 guitar at media play for $99, and I was very pleased because I have seen this guitar for $200-$300 on the internet, and media play normally sells them for about $150. For the price I paid on this guitar, it was a steal. The guitar sounds great, and when plugged into the same amp, I could barely tell any difference between the Silvertone and my friend's $900 Gibson Les Paul.
I like it because it looks different than a lot of guitars out there. Its double cutaway mahogany body gives it an awesome yet "classy" look at the same time. It comes in Wine Red or Red Splatter-on Black designs. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it has a good clean sound.
The only downside I have found so far is that the volume and tone knobs don't give very good control and serve more like on off switches, but that wasn't a big deal to me. I would not recommend this for a very experienced guitarist, but for a beginner, or even someone that is fairly experienced but not nit-picky this is a great guitar for the price.
It is also very durable, as I have bumped it into my bedroom wall a couple times, and it is still dent free.
If you are a beginner or looking for a wallet-friendly buy, this is for you. Kevin rated this unit on 2002-12-21.
