The older ones I've seen seem to have really bad fretwork and finishing, with poor setups and even worse pickups. The newer models are improving... slowly, but it's still not really quite there. At new this guitar comes in at around $200, which included the amp and guitar strap, gig bag, pick selection, and tuner. It is a starter kit and I understand that but the only people that would go for this is the beginner.

The Fender Squier Affinity Strat is a bargain-priced (less than $150) guitar for someone looking for the Fender sound and vibe without breaking the bank.
