Danelectro Dan Electrode Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsThe Dan Electrode is the new power supply put out by Danelectro. Danelectro has been in the music business since the 1940s when they first started building guitars and amps for Sears. I first remember seeing them doing effects in the 90s.
The Dan Electrode will be released soon in stores to the public. I was lucky enough to score one of the first ones.
I write a guitar blog. Danelectro was cool enough to mail me a new Dan Electrode to check out. They going price is $18.99 and you can also buy an adaptor to power from 5-15 pedals! Anyway I got mine and have been checking it out for a few days.

The cool feature about this that sets it apart from just any power supply is there is a dial on the switch that allows you to roll back the voltage.
If you've ever heard someone tell you their effects pedals sound better on batteries than with a power supply this is why. Once a battery is used the voltage slowly goes down until the battery dies.
Danelectro allows you to hover anywhere between 3 and 9 volts. When you get lower into the volts some pedals even break up. The flanger pedal I was messing around with just got NASTY around 4-5 volts.
The one thing I wasn't crazy about is the switch is on the power supply end that fits into the wall, so to be able to mess with the variable voltage I needed to get an extension chord. No big deal.
The unit is plastic and like most Danelectro products it features a more retro 50s cosmetic look. Mine is mint green and brown.
Definitely something fun to mess with. You would be surprised to hear what your favorite pedals sound like with a little less juice. If you are afraid of a lower voltage, this power supply also offer a switch which gives out the full 9 volts. Billy rated this unit on 2011-05-24.
