EMG EMG60 Reviews  4 / 5 based on 6 reviews The EMG60 is an active humbucker, usually put in the neck position. The thing I like most about it is that it is a warm pickup that still retained the EMG clarity. That said, it is a really compressed pickup, I prefer a more open sounding neck pickup.

It's clean, and it's dirty in the best ways! famous as a neck pickup only and never as the bridge pickup. I've never actually tried it in the bridge pickup.

The EMG 60 mainly got its popularity thanks to James Hetfield of Metallica. He ran this pickup in the neck for the longest time as his main clean tone pickup. This is the original ceramic magnet version of the pickup, and it?s an active pickup which means it runs off of a power source ? in this case, it?s a 9V battery.
