Fishman Earthtone Acoustic Guitar Pickup Reviews
5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI've been playing for over 30 years, much recording (you've probably heard me). Type of music: Rock w. blues, country, influences. Dylan of course, plus CA rock, southern rock, etc.
Paid aprox $60 at Guitar Center
I use the pickup mostly for recording. Someone else said it has way too much trebble and lacks the rest of the spectrum. I find that this pickup captures what I need/want in recording accoustic guitar. It sits perfectly in the mix. Leaves room for bass guitar, electric leads, etc without stepping on the other instrument's sonic spaces. With other pickups you have to really eq-out much of the frequenencies so the other instruments and voices aren't muddy. This thing records very well. Whether using Direct In box, or through pedals and amp with a Shure 57 or 58, Neuman or whatever. Records well and sits in the mix very very well.
Nothing. Perfect for recording, and when planing live you want a mix of pickups/guitars anyway. This is ONE of the many flavors. Not all of them. Just like you don't want your ice-cream to taste like all your favorites all at the same time.
Only change I would recommend is: Instead of having the cord always hanging from the guitar, have a cord that can plug into the pickup just like an electric guitar if possible.
Excellent. BY THE WAY....you don't drill holes in your guitar to install it. All you do is use the screws and back-ends to "pinch" it into place. Not sure why someone would have holes drilled in to install it. ouch.
Great sound for recording and for playing live. It doesn't hog all the frequencies. Like Pavorotti doesn't sing bass, alto, sopranno, etc all at the same time either.
