Groove Tubes Power Pick ReviewsAll right, so you think here’s another review about some “bells and whistle’s” device that does nothing.
Take a few minutes, and kick back, and read on. This one’s got a little twist to it. The “Power Pick” was mentioned to me in conversation by Mr. Aspen Pittman, the founder and CEO of Groove Tubes. I asked him just what is a “Power Pick”? He told me “It is a unique accessory that attaches to any standard plectrum, It actually multiplies the pick’s mass by at least 20%, resulting in an increase in the instrument’s string volume by up to +5dB.” The first thing that ran through my mind, is how could that be possible? I was a disbeliever from the start. I have been playing guitar professionally for many years now, and could not see how that could be true. So I set out to acquire a set of “Power Picks”. I got a “Power Pick” especially made for Acoustic Guitar and Bass, and I also got a “Power Pick” for Guitar and Mandolin. They just sat around the studio for a few days and then finally, I got around to pulling out the one for Electric Guitar. When I first picked the “Power Pick’ up it felt very comfortable, it gives you the feeling that you have total control of your pick, and also, with the added comfort of not having to squeeze the hell out of it, in fear of dropping the pick. When I first strummed the guitar, I could definitely hear the difference. It is as though you put a heavier gauge of strings on your guitar. It had ring for days. It is actually a pretty cool accessory that works. I have talked to a few people that have used this little item, and they say the same thing. It comes with a Fender medium pick, but not to worry, if you have a favorite pick that you use, simply take the fender pick off, and change it with your favorite pick. It is as easy as that. Since I have started using mine, I have played in situations from recording to concerts, and I think I am finally am getting used to it, and it has become a part of my stage and studio gear. There is only so many things you can say about a piece of gear like this, but the best thing is to go pick up you own, and try it out. Both models have a suggested retail price of a mere $12.95 price tag, which is nothing compared to what it will give back to you.

So all in all, I give the Groove Tubes “Power Pick” a major thumbs up.
