Washburn Wonderbar - Whammy for Stratocasters Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviews Fender Strats are known to go out of tune when you rough up the vibrato tailpiece, so I looked for an alternative, and found a great piece of equipment. Washburn offered the Wonderbar and all of a sudden it was gone. I am lucky to have bought mine in McCamey Music Mart, in Texas, this is my second Wonderbar, and I only paid about $70.00 dollars brand new. It is worth alot more.
I like this unit because it helps my guitars stay in tune like professional guitars should. The tone is very good and there is plenty of sustain for Santana like material and Hendrix feedback. The reason this happens is because it has roller saddles and no springs to mess up the tunability. This unit is easy to install on any strat with vintage style bridge and tuning problems. It also came with a locking mechanism you install behind the nut. I can whammy with the best and stay in tune, I can also replicate the sounds of the Ventures when they were using Fender Jazz Masters. These are nice if you can find one.
I have been searching for a brand new Wonder Bar in Gold. These units were discontinued and forgotten.
The construction is nice and very attractive. It is made of durable metals like steel and brass. There are no springs and works on a torsion bar method of tension applied to the strings. It was available in Chrome, Black Chrome, and rarely in Gold Plated.
The Washburn Wonder Bar is a product that has made my guitar playing more professional sounding, it intonates accurately, and is durable. I would buy another one in GOLD. Marcos Mendoza, Jr. - West Texas Guitar Jams rated this unit on 2002-07-17.
