Shure Performance PG58 Wireless 2-Pack ReviewsExcellent microphone for the price. There is a place in town where I practice music and there are SM 58s there as well. So I decided to test out the PG58 and an SM 58 and they sound identical. The only difference is the SM 58 is made like a tank, but if you take care of the PG 58 you'll be fine. The PG 58 isn't fragile but it won't be able to wi... Even guys like Tom Petty and Henry Rollins swear by it as their go to mic for vocals in the studio. When they work these microphones are fabulous. I have a love hate relationship with them however due to that lack of battery life these mics get. Do yourself a favor and keep a ton of spare 9 volts around. While they aren't the best sounding mics, they are cheap so I don't worry about breaking them if I need to bring them around. I use them so I can protect some of my better recording microphones when I need a mic to bring to a show... A little fuzzy at times if the connection is somewhat compromised. Recommend a preamp with this, it really brings out the warmth and the richness of the vocals. Plug and go capability. It doesn't get much easier than that. A tough, rugged microphone, c... It still works, and it's been dropped many times, so there's something to be said for durability. As my ears have matured, this mic sounds rather dull to me now. Definitely wouldn't want to use it for recording. I actually use it for a talkback mic in my studio, where sou... [read more on Audiofanzine] JackLudden rated this unit on 2008-08-08. |
