JLH Products AxeTrak for Guitar Reviews 5 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI read two reviews on this product, one in EQ magazine and the other in Vintage Guitar magazine. They both went on and on about how great this unit was. I record in my home studio and I can't crank my guitar amp loud enough to record a good chunky sound. This device looked like the answer. I paid $400 for my AxeTrak direct from the factory. It arrived one week after I paid for it online.
This unit is small, easy to carry around and sounds awesome. When I crank my 50 watt JCM 900 through this thing it totally screams. I can't believe how easy it is to get killer sounding rock guitar tracks. This unit allows you record unbelievable sounding grindy tones. I can even record crisp clean tones if I turn down. It has a deep port that can be opened for super-low tuned down stuff. This device has totally improved the overall sound of my recordings because now my guitar tracks sound like they were recorded by the big boys!
Haven't found any dislikes yet. It does exactly what it claims to do. Maybe it should handle 100 watts rms instead of 75 watts rms.
Their website says that the AxeTrak is made out of 13-ply birchplywood. It is covered with gray carpet and seems to be very well made. I have had mine for 3 months and haven't had any problems with it. I called the factory before I bought mine just to see if they were legit and they were really helpful and totally cool.
If you record distorted guitar tracks you need to check out this device. It allows you to totally use your existing setup but not have to use your speakers or speaker cabinets. If you don't believe me check out the sound clips on their website, www.axetrak.com, pretty impressive!!! C. Bernard rated this unit on 2005-01-06.
