Vintech 1272 Microphone Preamp Reviews 5

The Vintech 1272 is a two channel class A discreet transformer balanced microphone preamp modeled after classic Neve 1272 mic pre. I am a student, musician, writer, and pretty good line dancer residing in beautiful Nashville, TN. I've been a drummer and guitar player on and off for the past 10 years of my life and have began engineering and producing in the past 4. I currently play drums for the band Brookline and you can see me rockin' an Orange County Drum and Percussion or Mapex kit decked out with Zildjian K Hybrids.

Our studio purchased this two-channel pre about 3 years ago for right around $1,300 from Sweetwater. We bought it while trying to increase our outboard gear options in a new studio at a Recording Arts college in Nashville, TN.

This pre sounds great on just about anything. It does a great job at replicated the low end of a bass and is my favorite pre for anything on a drum kit. Featuring in input sensitivity and output gain knob on each channel gives a lot more control on the sound you want to get rather than just the gain. It's got that great tone you hear from the classic Neve 1272 and at a much lower price.

No complaints so far!

The knobs and switches on front are sturdy and the interface is very user friendly and easy to navigate. It takes up two rack spaces and has a sold structure with a thick metal casing.

Bottom Line? This pre will make a great addition to your studio's outboard collection and definitely provide variety for your clients and engineers. At around $1,300, it's a great value and you get so much more than you pay for.
